Historical Fiction

Even if nothing else is certain, love is.

Welcome to Certain, Kentucky were things are often not very certain at all. In the midst of America’s Great Depression, this southern town finds hope and home in books and each other and the always certain power of love.

Join Mattie, Ruby, and Ava as they deliver books along the Hell for Certain Creek in the wilds of Kentucky, forging friendships, finding love, uncovering truths and standing up for what’s right even when it’s not what’s easy.

The re-release of these books is coming soon. Published by Adamant Amen Press (which is ME, more about that soon as my ultimate goal is to grow this press into something wonderful!) Stay tuned! You know the adage, if you want something done right, do it yourself. Not to say that other ways aren’t right, but I’ve got CERTAIN (get it? I couldn’t help myself) plans!

Contemporary Fiction

Life can be tart, but thankfully, it’s also pretty sweet.

The Lemonade Year and The Year of Thorns and Honey are part of a heartfelt and fun duology.

They can be read in either order, but if I have to suggest, I’d say start with The Lemonade Year first. There’s a fun twist that you’ll enjoy more if you read that one first–wink wink (inside scoop from the author!)

You might also enjoy my short story collections. My first novel, The Lemonade Year, begin as a story that is now published in Out Across the Nowhere.

Jesus Tells a Story is a poignant, funny, and heartfelt collection about Jesus in the modern world. This linked collection started as a series of open mic style flash pieces that I wrote once a year to read at Wildacres Writers Workshop. They were popular enough that people started asking me if I was going to read a new “Jesus Story” each year. So each year, I wrote one. It’s been a decade now and with a few more added in to complete the story arc, here it is!

Odd coincidence, each collection has thirteen stories. The new good luck number.
