I’m home from church today with some kids who are under the weather, so I thought I’d post something a little Sunday-like.
I wear a cross that looks like this:
The other day in the grocery store, the cashier asked me if it was the Chinese symbol for something. I had never thought that it looked like a Chinese symbol, but I suppose it could. I told her it was the cross of the Eastern Orthodox Christian Church.
This one actually. The one that right now, is filled with my church family singing to Christ.
The cashier and I talked for a moment about church, the never-ending rain, and how to get children to eat brussel sprouts. When I got home, I googled “Chinese symbols that look like a cross.” I found a tattoo site of the 30 most popular Chinese symbols in America. (Don’t you always wonder if maybe someone’s tattoo says something other than what they think it does. That would be my luck.)
There were a few on that short list that looked familiar. Can you see the cross in these?
So, no, the symbol on the end of the silver chain around my neck isn’t Chinese, but it does mean all those things. It means Christ loves me and I love him.
He loves you too. Happy Sunday, guys! (No, I don’t really know a good way to get children to eat brussel sprouts.)
